This training will focus on helping licensed practitioners’ gain a comprehensive understanding of telehealth laws and COVID HIPAA-rules that must be implemented in order to meet the needs of individuals in need of mental health and addiction services. The benefits, barriers and opportunities, and legal problems will be addressed along with recommendations to assist healthcare practitioners with managing their organizations while meeting the needs of their clients. Participants will also become aware of key telehealth ethical dilemmas that commonly occur in the workplace and ways to resolve them.

Goals/Objectives:

•Participants will identify and explain definitions of telemental health laws.

•Participants will be familiar with the practice of telehealth HIPAA laws during the COVID-19 Pandemic according to the federal government guidelines.

•To be familiar with the roles and responsibilities of health care professionals during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

•To be aware of the benefits of telehealth during the COVID-19 Crisis.

•Barriers to and opportunities for telehealth providers to know during this pandemic.

•Participants will be aware of legal issues and recommendations on how to protect your practice and licenses.

•To be familiar with practical ways for practitioners to protect themselves during this COVID Era.

•Participants will identify key telehealth ethical dilemmas in the workplace and ways to resolve them.

•Present and future implications of telehealth during and after the COVID Pandemic.

The use of you-tube videos and ethical and legal dilemmas scenarios will be utilized to assist participants during this COVID Era.
